An Implementation Consultants guide to BIM 360

An Implementation Consultants guide to BIM 360

Many of us are familiar with most of the clicks and picks found in the BIM 360 Applications. We set up accounts and projects, and everyone is good to go. But are we giving best practice guidance on how to use all of these clicks and picks? This 3-hour workshop will take you through topics to help you make better decisions on how to set up your projects and employ workflows consistency and efficiency. We will look at some basic features that will provide some very effective workflows such as using Xrefs and linked files, the Desktop Connector and how to manage Title Blocks to extract data from documents.

Pick up some tips and tricks along the way as we look at:

  • The use of Roles in organising teams (both Account and Project Admin)
  • Extracting Title Block information when uploading documents
  • The role of the Desktop Connector when using Xrefs and Linked files
  • Reviewing a federated model
  • And much more

BIM 360 is more than just uploading documents, sign up and see how.

Pushing beyond the limits with Advance SteelModelling TimberHigh end architectural projects

Pushing beyond the limits with Advance Steel – Modelling Timber & High end architectural projects

We all know that Advance Steel is a 3D modelling package used for steel detailing and the automatic creation of fabrication documentation & data. It is also widely used for steel staircases, balustrade and miscellaneous metalwork. But did you know that Advance Steel can also be used to model & detail structural timber elements or steelwork that requires timber packing? Or did you know that Advance Steel can model high end architectural projects made from steel & glass with bought it custom components?

This 3-hour workshop will look at how Advance Steel can be utilised to model and detail these non-standard steel applications. Over the 3-hours, we will look at:

  • Modelling Structural timber, including glulam beams
  • Timber to timber connections & timber to steel connection
  • Modelling structural steelwork packed out with timber
  • Modelling a high end central spine staircase with glass balustrade & timber handrails
  • Creating parts and custom connections for bought in items & how these are shown on drawings & lists

Whether you are looking at Advance Steel for the first time or an existing user, this workshop is not to be missed, and there will be something for everyone.

Going Interactive with your Revit Models

Going Interactive with your Revit Models

In this session, we will explore the options and workflows available in the AEC industry collection to take your Revit model to the next level of interaction.

We will look at the interactive options in Revit from Walkthroughs to panoramic rendering in the cloud. Moving it to Navisworks and creating a published version that can be opened by anyone in a free viewer. We will finish with a moving our model to 3ds Max and finally to 3ds Max interactive for a full-on Virtual Reality experience.

Let’s experience your creative ideas before they become a reality.

AEC Collection Workshop Where matters Coordinating your Models

AEC Collection Workshop – Where matters! Coordinating your Models

In this AEC Collection Collaboration Workshop, we will be looking in more detail about how the Civil Engineer, the Structural Engineer and the Architect can collaborate with their 3D models. To do this, we need to pay particular attention to the Coordinates and the difference in how each discipline works. There are 5 AEC Collection products that we need to look at and make them all talk the same language when it comes to location. These are Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks and Navisworks.

This workshop will include:

  • Coordinates – An explanation of all the different coordinate systems
  • Setting Geographical Coordinates How to set them in:
    o AutoCAD (Map 3D)
    o AutoCAD Civil 3D
    o Infraworks
    o Revit
  • Combining various Models (AutoCAD-Revit-Civil-Infraworks) using Navisworks
  •  Creating a Revit Topo Surface from a Civil Model (Civil 3D, Infraworks model or LIDAR Data)
