As we've mentioned previously on this blog we will soon see the end of the road for Windows XP and Office 2003! With just 55 days left we thought we'd give you a little reminder that things will change from the beginning of April.
On 8th April 2014 Microsoft is turning off the support for the operating systems which means that there will be no future updates in terms of security and software.
What this also invariably means is many software and hardware vendors will also no longer support XP which means that future software and hardware purchases cannot be guaranteed to operate correctly on the XP platform.
To ensure that you don't expose your business to potential security and compliance risks make sure you update before the loss of support deadline date! This may involve you setting up an action plan on what needs updating and when, but make sure you do this sooner rather than later.
This change isn't just about your operating system, it may affect a numerous amount of hardware around your business including printers, scanners, plotters and more. So don't forget to check compatibility of these with latest operating systems before you rolling out any upgrade.
Once you have updated to Windows 8 Autodesk has launched backward support for some products on Windows 8; this will help out with those of you currently running prior versions under your Autodesk subscription.
However for those of you using previous versions of AutoCAD and planning on staying with XP this is your last chance to upgrade to the 2014 software release as this is the last version that will be supported by Windows XP as it is now end of life.
Don't delay! The move to Windows XP and Office 2003 is easy!
